Zenefits Commits to Hiring Veterans, Joins White House Joining Forces Initiative

Company makes five-year pledge to hire veterans to fill 10 percent of positions

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Zenefits, the leading all-in-one HR solution for small businesses, today announced a five-year pledge as part of a special White House initiative to hire veterans to fill 10 percent of its positions. Zenefits’ commitment to veterans is part of a package of technology sector pledges announced at the White House today by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden.

In support of Joining Forces, a nationwide initiative launched by the First Lady and Dr. Biden calling on all Americans to rally around service members, veterans, and their families and support them through wellness, education, and employment opportunities, Zenefits will fill at least 10 percent of its new hires in sales, marketing, and operations with those that served in the Armed Forces or military family members.

Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden used the 5/5 date to mark Joining Forces’ successful five years and announce technology sector commitments for the next five years. Zenefits and more than 50 other companies collectively pledged to hire at least 100,000 veterans and military spouses over the next five years. Amazon, Microsoft, and Salesforce were among the other companies.

“Zenefits is proud to be part of Joining Forces, and this pledge is just the beginning,” Zenefits CEO David Sacks said. “Veterans have the skills and leadership qualities that can benefit companies in any industry. We look forward to welcoming veterans to our workforce, and are exploring other ways to support veterans.”

More than 1.2 million veterans and their family members have been hired or trained in all sectors under the Joining Forces initiative since it began in April 2011.

In addition to the hiring pledges, Mrs. Obama announced more than 60,000 commitments to provide veterans and military spouses with training and certification opportunities, empowering them with the skills they need for high tech careers.

“As a former Army Captain, I’m proud Zenefits is committed to hiring veterans. I look forward to helping the company bring more veterans into our company and preparing them for a fulfilling career,” said Bud Bowlin, senior benefits advisor at Zenefits.
