THE WOODLANDS, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--McKesson Specialty Health today announced a comprehensive solution that includes services, expertise and technology to support community-based oncology practices participating in The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation’s (CMMI) Oncology Care Model (OCM).
The OCM is a new, voluntary payment and care delivery model that attempts to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of cancer care by aligning financial incentives and accountability for episodes of care involving chemotherapy. To participate, practices must meet new quality metric requirements (collecting them and sharing them with CMS). Financial and operational success will require transformative changes to how care is delivered and documented.
McKesson Specialty Health’s OCM solutions are currently being used and tested at pilot sites in The US Oncology Network. Early results from these experiences and more will be used to ensure practices have the right tools and processes in place for the OCM’s start on July 1, 2016.
“Preparation for the OCM has energized the whole practice to do better for our patients,” said John Fleagle, M.D., practice president and managing partner at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers. “The structure that the OCM requires has brought together expert teams in data analytics, IT and clinical content throughout McKesson Specialty Health and The US Oncology Network to create a system of care that meets the goals of the program. From the navigator meeting the patient and their loved ones for the first time, the practice provides expert guidance and well conceived care throughout the continuum of their experience with cancer.”
McKesson Specialty Health’s comprehensive practice solution currently supports requirements of the OCM, alternative payment models, value-based care and revenue optimization. Key elements include:
- Professional advisors with experience transitioning providers to value-based care - Innovative Practice Services℠
- ONC-certified1 EHR – iKnowMed℠ EHR and iKnowMed Generation 2
- Clinical quality and evidence-based guideline support – Clear Value Plus℠
- Data analytics – Practice Insights℠
- Patient engagement – My Care Plus℠
- Inventory & procurement optimization - Lynx Mobile®
- Revenue cycle management – TotalView℠ Generation 2
Additional enhancements are being designed and tested within the pilot program and will be available by July 1, including:
- Streamlined data entry for all OCM-required information
- Dashboard view of information necessary to determine patient eligibility for OCM
- Enhanced billing workflow
- Ability to calculate and report on quality metrics to submit to CMS
- Dashboard view of current patients to support patient navigation workflow
- Treatment plans designed to support flexible physician and care team workflow and ability to share with the patient
McKesson Specialty Health will also leverage Fuse™, RelayHealth’s new healthcare data platform solution, which acquires and aggregates clinical, financial and operational data at scale across settings. The platform organizes data into timely actionable information and, in conjunction with practice transformation services, helps providers optimize revenue, cost and quality performance across all payment models.
“McKesson Specialty Health continues to invest in a comprehensive OCM solution and support the advancement of community oncology. This includes testing our solutions early and designing integrated modules that focus on critical areas for success in value-based care,” said Diana Verrilli, vice president and general manager, Managed Care, Quality and Provider Solutions for McKesson Specialty Health.
