Satellite Healthcare’s Sheila Doss-McQuitty to Assume Role of President at 2016 American Nephrology Nurses’ Association National Symposium

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Satellite Healthcare, a leading national not-for-profit provider of dialysis services, is pleased to announce that Sheila Doss-McQuitty, Director of Clinical Programs and Research, will assume the role of President of the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA) during the organization’s National Symposium in Louisville, Kentucky, May 1-4.

Doss-McQuitty, whose nursing career spans more than 35 years, has specialized in nephrology since joining Satellite Healthcare in 1990. As the elected leader of one of the country’s largest nursing associations, Doss-McQuitty will be charged with overseeing the implementation of ANNA’s strategic plan to promote excellence in nephrology while providing a full spectrum of services to the organization’s 10,000 members.

“Sheila has served in national leadership roles within ANNA for much of the past 15 years and we know the association’s members will be in excellent hands under her guidance,” said Rick Barnett, CEO of Satellite Healthcare. “She is a wonderful example of a Satellite team member who joined us at the start of her career and continually took opportunities to build on her expertise as a nurse and a nephrology professional, leading to increasingly important leadership roles within the organization and in the nephrology community more broadly. She is a true inspiration.”

Satellite Healthcare will have a strong presence at the Symposium not only to celebrate Doss-McQuitty’s accomplishment and share information about the organization and employment opportunities in the exhibition space (Booth #501), but to educate attendees.

On Sunday, May 1, Dr. Brigitte Schiller, Chief Medical Officer of Satellite Healthcare, will co-lead a workshop titled “There’s No Place Like Home to Dialyze: Improving Nursing Knowledge and Skills of Home Modalities.” The highly interactive session will cover the background knowledge, skills, and hands-on training nurses need to know to provide more effective education to patients selecting a home modality. Also on Sunday, Joanna Neumann, Special Project Clinical Manager at Satellite Healthcare, will co-lead a Certification Review Course, which will provide a comprehensive overview of nephrology nursing, including concepts of nephrology and treatment modalities.

In addition, Doss-McQuitty and Norma Gomez, Safety and Infection Prevention Program Manager at Satellite Healthcare, will join colleagues in presenting a paper titled “Gastrointestinal (GI) Tolerability of Sodium Zirconium Cyclosilicate (ZS-9) in Hyperkalemia: Pooled Analysis of Two Phase 3 Studies.” Satellite WellBound staff Maria O’Shaughnessy, RN Home Nurse, and Carol Elwood, RN Clinical Manager, will share a presentation titled “Ethical Issues of Allowing Self-Care Home Peritoneal Dialysis in the Presence of Hoarding.”
