Veche Publishers: Vladimir Torin Sent Vladimir Putin to Medieval

MOSCOW--()--A Russian writer Vladimir Torin and Veche Publishers LLC have published a novel called Amalgama about the mysteries of the Medieval Venetian mirrors and its connection with the present times.

The book cover features “The Arnolfiini Portrait” painted in 1434 by the Flemish artist Jan van Eyck. The main character of the painting is Giovanni di Nicolao Arnolfini, a merchant from Bruges, who looks exactly the same as the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Moreover, the painting shows a mirror that brought Mr. Putin to the Medieval.

According the data of the Moscow House of Books, the Amalgama novel is popular in Russia and is considered to be a best-seller. The first edition of the book has been already sold out; in summer 2016, the sequel Amalgama-2 is to be published. Vladimir Torin is already called a Russian Dan Brown for mixing historical novel genre with fantasy as well as the research-intensive nature of his novels.

Information about the author

Vladimir Torin, PhD in Political Science, is a popular Russian writer.

Vladimir was born in 1970 in Kiev. He graduated from the Lviv Military Institute of Culture, journalism department, in 1991. In 1990s, he was correspondent for a number of Russian federal media, including Nezavisimaya Gazeta, the Ogonyok magazine, CM-Today, and was deputy chief editor of the Nizhegorodskiye Novosti newspaper. In 2000s, he headed the press-service of the Regional Legislative Assembly and a number of large companies’ press-services. Since 2004, Vladimir has been the President of the Interregional League of Journalists, and continues to be.
