SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) announced the results of its 2016 Board of Directors’ election today. GSA’s board is comprised of senior executives who represent the semiconductor industry’s most active global regions. The majority of the board members are selected by GSA’s voting members.
This year, eight board positions were available for election, including two EDA/design positions, three foundry positions, one value-chain producer position and two test/packaging and back-end supplier positions. Each position will serve a three-year term.
Re-elected EDA/design directors include Dr. Aart de Geus, chairman and co-chief executive officer of Synopsys, Inc., and Lip-Bu Tan, president and chief executive officer of Cadence Design Systems, Inc.
Rick Cassidy, president of TSMC North America and senior corporate vice president of TSMC Ltd., and Dr. Tzu-Yin Chiu, chief executive officer and executive director of SMIC, were re-elected as foundry directors in addition to a new board member, Dr. Bami Bastani, senior vice president of the RF business unit at GLOBALFOUNDRIES.
Re-elected value-chain producer director is Jack Harding, co-founder, president and chief executive officer of eSilicon Corporation.
Re-elected back-end and test/packaging directors include Steve Kelley, president and chief executive officer of Amkor Technology, Inc., and Dr. Tien Wu, chief operating officer of ASE Group.
