PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--One of the most successful comedians worldwide, Trevor Noah, will entertain and delight in the new SugarHouse Casino Event Center. The host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central takes the stage Saturday, April 23, at 8 p.m. Tickets for the performance go on sale March 4.
The 32-year-old entertainer will be up close and personal for those in attendance. The 30,000-square-foot multipurpose facility will be configured as a 600-seat venue for the performance.
“Trevor Noah travels all over the world making people laugh and to see him in the intimate setting of the Event Center will be terrific,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. “This venue doesn’t have a bad seat.”
Noah recently made his debut as the new host of the Emmy® and Peabody® Award-winning The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Noah joined The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 2014 as a contributor.
Noah’s upcoming book will be released in November 2016. The Untitled Trevor Noah Project will be a collection of autobiographical comic essays. It will include stories of Trevor’s life growing up under apartheid in South Africa, his days as a young comedian, and his incredible rise to become the most popular stand-up comedian in Africa and the host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.
Born in South Africa to a black South African mother and a white European father, Noah has hosted numerous television shows including South Africa’s music, television and film awards, the South African Comedy Festival and two seasons of his own late night talk show, Tonight with Trevor Noah. He made his U.S. television debut in 2012 on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has also appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, becoming the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on either late night show.
Noah recently debuted his one-hour stand-up special, “Trevor Noah: Lost in Translation,” on Comedy Central. Filmed at The Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., “Trevor Noah: Lost in Translation” brings Noah’s unique world-view and global analysis of American culture to the forefront. In the special, Noah addresses major domestic and international events of the past year, sharing his outlook on the world today, including terrorism, racial tensions in America and what it was like being African and travelling into the United States during the Ebola crisis.
Noah’s one-man show “The Racist” at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe was a sold out run that became one of the most talked about shows at the Festival that year. That same year, Noah was the subject of David Paul Meyer’s award-winning documentary film You Laugh But It’s True which tells the story of his remarkable career in post-apartheid South Africa. His Showtime comedy special, “Trevor Noah: African American” premiered in 2013. Recently, Noah performed for the Royal Family at the Royal Variety Performance. He was nominated for “Personality of the Year” at the 2014 and 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.
He continues to tour all over the world and has performed in front of sold out crowds at the Hammersmith Apollo in London and the Sydney Opera House in Australia, as well as many US cities.
Noah will perform at SugarHouse just weeks after world-renowned singer-songwriter LeAnn Rimes takes the Event Center stage Sunday, March 6.
Tickets for Noah’s show can be purchased online at www.sugarhousecasino.com starting March 4, 2016, at 10 a.m. The cost is $85 per seat.
In addition to live performances and concerts, the SugarHouse Casino Event Center can be reserved for a variety of other occasions, including weddings, corporate receptions, seminars, trade shows and more. The space features floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views of the Delaware riverfront and the Ben Franklin Bridge. Parking is always free.
The Event Center is part of SugarHouse’s 2016 expansion rollout, with an expanded gaming floor and seven new food and beverage outlets, including Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chop House by Gibsons Restaurant Group, the casino’s high-end steakhouse.
