Scripps Networks Interactive Appoints Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer

New leadership also announced for Internal Audit, International legal teams

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--()--Scripps Networks Interactive (NYSE: SNI) has named David Arroyo to the newly established position of Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. In this role, Arroyo will guide the company’s adherence to all applicable laws and regulations worldwide, including oversight of the company’s Code of Ethics, policies and reporting tools. He also will continue to supervise the internal legal teams that provide support for litigation, intellectual property, data security and privacy, labor and employment, ratings research and bankruptcy. Arroyo, who joined Scripps Networks Interactive in 2004, previously served as Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs and Internal Audit.

“While maintaining high ethical standards is a shared responsibility for us all, it’s essential we take a coordinated approach across our global business. This is especially critical as our company expands its global footprint. I’m certain that David will bring the same high level of integrity to this new responsibility that he’s demonstrated since joining the company,” said Cynthia Gibson, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer.

Concurrently, the company elevated Andy Broyles to Senior Vice President, Internal Audit. He was previously Vice President. Timon Marshall was also named Senior Vice President, Head of Legal, International. He formerly served as Head of Legal for the company’s operations in Latin America.

Before joining Scripps Networks Interactive, Arroyo practiced as a trial lawyer at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, a global law firm, and early in his career, he clerked for U.S. District Court Judge James G. Carr. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School and Duke University. While at the law school, he served as an associate and contributing editor of the “Michigan Law Review.”

President Obama appointed Arroyo to the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the Senate confirmed him in September 2014. He is a past chairman of the board of LatinoJustice, formerly known as the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, a 44-year old civil rights and education organization. He also has served on the boards of several other charitable, professional, and public interest organizations.

Arroyo has been recognized by “Cablefax” as one of the “Most Influential Minorities in Cable” (2014-2015), by the Imagen Foundation as among the “Most Powerful and Influential Hispanics in Entertainment” (2012 – 2015), and by the National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) with its “Luminary Award” (2010).
