Clint Gordon-Carroll of Vivint Smart Home Named a Utah Business Forty Under 40 Honoree

Gordon-Carroll recognized for his achievements in cloud storage technology

PROVO, Utah--()--Vivint Smart Home™, a leading provider of smart home technology, today announced that Clint Gordon-Carroll, co-founder of Space Monkey, is a Utah Business Forty Under 40 honoree. Under Gordon-Carroll’s direction, Space Monkey built the world’s largest peer-to-peer cloud storage network and was acquired by Vivint in 2014. He now leads the cloud storage division at Vivint.

Every year, Utah Business recognizes Utah’s up-and-coming professionals rising through the ranks at record speed in its Forty Under 40 list. This year’s list of honorees includes a who’s who of innovating tech wizards, visionary entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders and executive captains who are guiding industry trends and shaping the future of their organizations and the state of Utah.

“As a trailblazer who leads from the front, Clint is highly deserving of this recognition,” said Matt Eyring, chief strategy and innovation officer at Vivint Smart Home. “He brings tremendous energy to the Vivint team that is infectious and inspiring. Space Monkey is an important component of a smart home as it gives our users a smarter and less expensive way to store all their photos, videos and documents. Outside of the smart home, Space Monkey has the ability over time to completely transform the data storage industry.”

Gordon-Carroll and Alen Peacock founded Space Monkey in 2011 as an alternative to data center storage, which requires high power, cooling, infrastructure and bandwidth costs. Space Monkey is a personal cloud storage solution that uses a peer-to-peer network, rather than a data center, to store data both locally and remotely. With one terabyte of secure cloud storage, Space Monkey can store more than 300,000 photos.

Gordon-Carroll was honored with all of this year’s Forty Under 40 honorees at an awards ceremony last Friday at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. He will also be featured in Utah Business magazine’s February 2016 edition.
