SEATTLE--()--Keller Rohrback L.L.P. is investigating recent reports that a data breach at the University of Central Florida (UCF) may have compromised the names and social security numbers of 63,000 students and faculty.

The university announced on February 4, 2016 that it first learned of the data breach on January 8, 2016. At that time they believed the breach affected about 600 current and former athletes. On January 15, 2016, after some investigation, UCF discovered the breach extended to tens of thousands of current and former employees, dating as far back as the 1980s.

UCF has identified two groups that may have been affected. The first group includes current and former student athletes who played for UCF in 2014-2015 as well as student staff members who supported UCF teams. The second group includes current and former “OPS” or Other Personal Services employees. OPS positions include undergraduate student employees, graduate assistants, and adjunct facility instructors.

Those impacted by the breach will be informed by mail the week of February 8. UCF is offering one year of free credit monitoring and identity-protection services to affected individuals.
