MORRISTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Financial Executives International (FEI), the association of choice for chief financial officers and other senior-level finance executives, today named Brian Cove Managing Director, Technical Activities.
Cove will lead the association’s committees focused on private company issues and their impact on FEI members. In this new role, he is responsible for producing content and crafting professional development programs for FEI’s private company members, in addition to monitoring all federal and regulatory legislation, developing comment letters and position papers, and generating detailed updates for standards-setters, regulators, policy makers and the FEI membership. Cove will report to Liliana DeVita, Chief Operating Officer, and his hiring strengthens the technical resources and expertise available to the membership.

FEI's Committee on Private Company Policy is responsible for monitoring and developing positions on legislation, regulations and other public policy initiatives that impact privately held companies. The Committee on Private Company Standards is responsible for monitoring and developing positions on accounting, auditing and related initiatives that impact privately held companies. Recent work of these committees include supporting policy initiatives for extending tax provisions, allowing plan sponsors to protect current employees when transitioning from a defined benefit to a defined contribution retirement plan and penning a comment letter in response to the Financial Accounting Foundation’s request regarding the effectiveness of the Financial Accounting Standard Board’s Private Company Council.

Cove joins FEI from the Commercial Finance Association where he was Chief Operating Officer and a member of the executive management team. During his tenure, he directed the organization’s government relations and communications programs and managed day-to-day operations. He joined the Commercial Finance Association as government relations director, and began his career in government relations at Inverness Corporation and Honda North America.
Cove earned a MA in international affairs from the School of International Service of The American University and a BA in political science, cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts.
Cove will be based in FEI’s Morristown, N.J. office.
