BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Markley Group, universally recognized as a world class mission-critical data center and cloud operator, today announced that phase one of its new data center facility in Lowell, Mass. is open and currently supporting clients. Phase one entailed the initial build out of 50,000 square feet of highly-secured white and mechanical space for immediate use. With the completion of this phase, clients now have access to the suburban mission-critical facility with the most resilient infrastructure in the region.
The Lowell facility is Markley Group’s second data center in New England and in addition to carriers originating at local POPs, offers customers the benefits of three diverse dark fiber networks connecting it to Markley Group’s existing One Summer Street location in Boston. These connections provide Lowell customers with direct access to the more than eighty network providers at One Summer Street.
Just blocks from the Lowell Connector, the 15 acre, highly secure campus is easily accessible and will provide in excess of 350,000 square feet of space. Mission-critical infrastructure supporting the facility includes 2N UPS and generator, 2N cooling, multiple water supplies and connections to two utility substations.
Markley Group provides its customers with 100 percent uptime service level agreements and staffs its facilities 24x7 with experienced operating engineers, trained in all disciplines required to run a data center including electrical, HVAC, telecom, shipping and receiving and remote hands services.
The Lowell facility will also feature one thousand disaster recovery hot seats, providing a secure and comfortable workspace with network access and emergency backup systems that can be used to ensure your business keeps running in the event your primary workplace is unavailable.
“We are pleased our Lowell facility is now open to clients seeking a suburban alternative with the same look, feel and culture as our Boston location,” said Jeffrey D. Markley, CEO of Markley Group. “With companies’ ever increasing need for back up sites and their desire for cost-effective solutions, the Lowell facility can meet both of these objectives.”
Markley was successful in securing a twenty year personal property tax exemption with the city and state for clients with equipment in Lowell.
In June 2015, Markley Group purchased the 350,000 square foot building in Lowell, Mass. and began the process of converting it into a master-planned 50 megawatt mission-critical data center facility working with Syska Hennessy Group as the project engineer. The Lowell building complements the company’s One Summer Street location, which is the largest and longest operating multi-tenant, mission-critical telecommunications and data center facility in the region. Markley Group also owns and operates a globally scalable cloud platform, which supports the company’s elastic, dedicated on-demand Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud offerings.
