NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Digital Reasoning, a leader in cognitive computing technology, announced today it has acquired Shareable, a Nashville-based health care technology provider which offers a mobile clinical documentation platform. As part of the acquisition, Hal Andrews, the CEO of Shareable, will now serve as president of Digital Reasoning’s health care business.
The combination of Shareable’s powerful technology that automates clinical data collection at the point of care with Digital Reasoning’s award-winning cognitive analytics capabilities now becomes the foundation of new innovative health care solutions that will greatly boost the productivity of health professionals and the quality of care they provide by reducing the number of manual knowledge-intensive tasks, while providing a more comprehensive view of patients by aggregating patient data across healthcare information systems.
“Digital health is a strategic market for Digital Reasoning as we pursue our mission to use cognitive computing to create a better world,” said Tim Estes, CEO of Digital Reasoning. “There’s a tremendous demand for disruptive technology in health care to optimize care, improve research, and find waste and fraud. By acquiring Shareable, we are able to accelerate the development and delivery of new healthcare solutions. I am proud to welcome the Shareable team, and excited about Hal taking a leadership role at Digital Reasoning to thoughtfully apply our combined technology assets to solve valuable problems for our customers and partners.”
“Shareable’s focus on capture of structured and unstructured clinical data, easily extracted or exchanged for analysis, is valuable for clinicians, mobile health companies and EHR providers,“ explains Andrews. “Together with Digital Reasoning we will be able to analyze and understand vast amounts of electronic patient data such as doctor’s notes, lab results as well as pathology and radiology reports to provide meaningful clinical insights via intelligent assistants.”
The following areas of Shareable’s intellectual property and expertise in the area of mobile clinical data capture will be fully integrated with Digital Reasoning’s product offering:
Mobile Applications: Shareable’s native iOS applications deliver and capture clinical information on a range of computing devices, bundled with 3rd party mobile health solutions or as standalone applications.
Cloud-based Platform: Shareable’s cloud-based middleware platform enables the rapid design of electronic forms across a variety of formats, making it possible to transform paper-based workflows into digital data streams.
Clinical Systems Integration: Shareable’s experience in seamlessly integrating its solution with various market-leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and clinical data warehouses, allowing for secure data exchange between on premise and cloud-based systems.
According to a July 2015 Gartner report titled Hype Cycle for Healthcare Provider Applications, Analytics and Systems, 2015, “With EHRs increasingly in place, the future will be dominated by technologies that enable real-time 'intelligent' operations, manage population health, engage and influence patients, and enhance clinicians' cognitive abilities."
