CES 2016: Trend Micro Chief Cybersecurity Officer Joins Inaugural CyberSecurity Forum

DALLAS--()--Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704, TSE:4704), a global leader in security software and solutions, will be represented by Tom Kellermann, chief cybersecurity officer, at the inaugural CyberSecurity Forum at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) January 6-9 in Las Vegas. He will join a panel of corporate leaders, security experts and policymakers to discuss current and emerging cybersecurity trends in the Internet of Things (IoT) era.

“As we become more connected, each new product launch or advancement in technology brings a promise of innovation and convenience that should excite everyone,” said Kellermann. “Unfortunately, this momentum can bring an increase in cyber threats that seek to do harm. We salute CES for its forward-thinking stance on cybersecurity to drive awareness about the role of manufacturers, individuals and governments in keeping information safe. The CyberSecurity Forum will be an enlightening venue to share ideas and insight so we can collectively work together to thwart cybercrime.”

The panel aims to educate business leaders with best practices to protect data, products and employees from cyber threats. It will also focus on helping organizations establish a security-conscious corporate culture and translate cybersecurity implications for the C-suite and boardroom.

While 2015 was a record-breaking year for cyber-attacks, Trend Micro experts anticipate even more challenges in 2016 for companies and individuals utilizing connected devices storing personal and/or professional data. As reported in Trend Micro’s 2016 Predictions, consumer-grade smart device failure could lead to fatalities, mobile payment methods will most likely be targeted excessively, and data breaches will be used to systematically destroy businesses.

The CyberSecurity Forum will take place on Wednesday, January 6 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Venetian, Level 4, Lando 4301. During the 2:00 p.m. panel, Tom Kellermann will speak along with fellow panelists Gary Kovacs, CEO of AVG Technologies; cybersecurity journalist Brian Krebs; and Suzanne Spaulding, Under Secretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security.
