WISeID is now available in China for Chinese Consumers, the first ever Digital Identity and Secure Cloud App released in China

GENEVA, NEW YORK & BEIJING--()--WISeKey, a Swiss based cyber security company, announced that is bringing Digital Identification and secure Cloud services to millions of Chinese consumers through its WiSeID application. The WiSeID version developed for the Chinese market provides users with a safe solution to secure their identity. Currently, lack of security of identity in China is hampering the development of e-commerce and the provision of public services online. According the China Internet Network information Center (CINIC), internet traffic through mobile devices surged by 36.8 million in the first six months of 2015, taking the total number accessing the web through smartphones to 594 million. It's 89% of China's 668 million internet users, up from 85.8% at the end of 2014.

The increasing number of computer-hacking and identity-theft cases revealed during 2015 is a reminder to us all that computer crime knows no boundaries. The perpetrators can operate from almost anywhere on the globe to steal personal data from anyone. In the day-to-day life, from banking to social media interactions, if users don't know who they are interacting with, they become vulnerable to fraud or deceit, and if their identity is compromised they will have to submit cumbersome procedures such as reestablishing their identity to prove who they are.

China announced last year sweeping new regulations requiring users of an array of Internet services to register with their real names and avoid spreading content that challenges national interests. This open a huge opportunity for Digital Identification such as WISeID as the requirements apply to users of blogs, microblogs, instant-messaging services, online discussion forums, news comment sections and related services as per the new rules by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the country's Internet regulator.

WISeID China users can download the app for free via iOS and Android, while they can secure and store their personal data and communications by purchasing secure vaults.

Specially, with WISeID China users can:

. Create digital signatures on electronic mail messages, thus ensuring message integrity and authenticity with their correspondents;

. Receive, decrypt and read confidential information from any of their correspondents using S/MIME (They can also send confidential information to fellow eID users);

. Increase security for their applications, replacing passwords with eID authentication protection (for PKI enabled applications);

. Securely encrypt files and share them with other eID holders using WISeCrypt Personal Edition.

WISeID can enhance the legitimacy of what people do and say online by providing accountable identities and protection from identity theft by safely managing passwords and social credentials in encrypted vaults.

The vault can be unlocked only using the user's Master Password and/or defined pattern, with additional face recognition authentication protection. WISeID keeps passwords in one place and generates hard-to-crack ones, and safely syncs data between computers and devices over clouds. All of WISeID's information is stored on a personal iDevice with AES 256-bit encryption, which means that unless users give out their master password, no one is going to steal it. The app also includes the option to sync with WISeKey's other products and backup data to the cloud, but that's just scraping the surface of what WISeID has to offer. The app also allows users to encrypt and decrypt email messages and SMS, store personal photos, sort and search items, generate passwords, scan and store QR codes, and even find deals nearby.
