HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HealthHelp, the Houston-based specialty benefits management company, is excited to announce that Dr. Uday Deshmukh will join their team as chief medical officer. Dr. Deshmukh brings years of health industry experience, both in a clinical and a payer setting.

Dr. Deshmukh most recently served as the senior medical director of clinical operations at BlueCross BlueShield of Florida, a position he held for almost six years. Prior to Florida Blue, he spent nearly seven years working at Cigna with his most recent position being national senior medical director for complex and specialty case management. While at both positions, Dr. Deshmukh focused on improving medical operations management and enhancing programs to provide patients with the highest quality of care.
Dr. Deshmukh is currently an assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Central Florida, a position he has held since February 2013. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for the Duval County Medical Society in Jacksonville, Florida, and is a member of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute’s Advisory Panel on Rare Disease. He earned a medical degree from Delhi University and a Masters of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is board certified in internal medicine and is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE).
