Biographies
Kevin M. Cofsky
Mr. Cofsky focuses on assisting clients in connection with capital structure optimization, liability management and restructuring matters. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners in 2007, Mr. Cofsky was a Principal at Kramer Capital Partners and a Managing Director at Evercore Partners. Previously in his career, Mr. Cofsky held positions at The Beacon Group, Houlihan Lokey and Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
During his tenure at Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Cofsky has advised companies and stakeholders in connection with a number of significant engagements, including the sale of the Texas Rangers, the $5 billion restructuring and sale of Edison Mission Energy, the $23 billion restructuring of Calpine, and the $40 billion restructuring of Energy Future Holdings.
Mr. Cofsky received a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Masters of Government Administration from the Fels Center of Government.
Thomas D. Haines
Mr. Haines focuses on advising clients on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures across a diversified set of industries and geographies. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners in 2006, Mr. Haines worked in the M&A Group at UBS Investment Bank, both in London and New York. Mr. Haines began his career as an Analyst in Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division and an Associate at Westbrook Partners, a real estate private equity firm.
During his tenure at Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Haines has advised on a number of significant transactions, including Johnson Electric Holdings Limited’s C$800 million acquisition of Stackpole International, the Qatar Investment Authority’s acquisition of a 19.9% stake in HK Electric Investments for $1.19 billion, Norwegian Cruise Line’s $3 billion acquisition of Prestige Cruise International, Merck KGaA’s $7.2 billion acquisition of Millipore Corporation and Solutia’s sale to Eastman Chemicals for $4.7 billion.
Mr. Haines received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Nicholas S. M. Johnston
Mr. Johnston focuses on advising healthcare clients across multiple sectors. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners in 2012, Mr. Johnston was an Executive Director in the Healthcare Investment Banking Division at JPMorgan, where he focused on clients in the pharmaceutical, specialty pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer of the operating subsidiaries of Microsulis Limited, a multi-million dollar medical technology company, and he earlier co-founded a development-stage pharmaceutical company, where as Vice President of Business he led all operational functions, corporate strategy implementations and fund-raising initiatives. Mr. Johnston began his career with JPMorgan in its New York and London offices.
During his tenure at Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Johnston has advised on several notable announced transactions, including EndoSense SA on its sale to St. Jude Medical for $331 million, Rhön-Klinikum AG on its sale of hospitals to Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA for €3.1 billion, CareFusion Corporation on its sale to Becton Dickinson and Company for $12.2 billion, and Sprout Pharmaceuticals on its sale to Valeant for $1 billion.
Mr. Johnston received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Joseph J. Lacovara
Mr. Lacovara is the Chief Technology Officer at Perella Weinberg Partners. Prior to joining the Firm in 2006, Mr. Lacovara was the Development Manager at Tribeca Global Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund that was part of Citigroup’s Alternative Investment Group. At Tribeca, Mr. Lacovara was responsible for developing, integrating and supporting software for front, middle and back office groups. Before joining Tribeca, Mr. Lacovara was the Manager of Operations Technology at SAC Capital, a multi-strategy hedge fund, where he was responsible for supporting operations and accounting groups. Prior to his experience at SAC, Mr. Lacovara spent eight years working in the prime broker technology groups at Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs in a variety of technology management roles.
Mr. Lacovara received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the New York Institute of Technology.
Darren L. Myers
Mr. Myers is a member of the Agility team, where he serves as the Director of Research, a Portfolio Manager, and a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners in 2007, Mr. Myers was a Senior Analyst at Tejas Securities Group, Inc., where he specialized in distressed and special situation investments. Mr. Myers also served as a Senior Analyst at the University of Texas Investment Management Company ("UTIMCO"), where he focused on hedge fund investments for the Marketable Alternative Investments portfolio.
Mr. Myers received a Bachelor of Arts in the Plan II Honors Program and a Masters in Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Myers earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
