“Integrity and transparency in capital markets is of utmost importance. The Certified Professional in Investor Relations (CPIR) designation is achieved through a rigorous 10-month program and exam developed by the Ivey Business School and the Canadian Investor Relations Institute,” said Yvette Lokker, President & CEO of CIRI. “Congratulations to those who have earned the CPIR designation in 2015. The CPIR represents a higher level of knowledge, skill and commitment. The designation lends additional credibility to the investor relations profession and creates greater awareness of the important role that IROs play in the capital markets.”
“The CIRI/Ivey Investor Relations Certification Program is the only program of its kind in the world, allowing investor relations executives to blend their highly diverse corporate experience with certification from the highly respected Ivey Business School and CIRI,” said Paul Carpino, CPIR and corporate investor relations executive with more than 28 years experience with leading Canadian public companies including TELUS, Tim Hortons, BlackBerry, Celestica and Royal Bank. “Investor relations plays one of the most unique and critical roles in public company life where you are required to leverage your knowledge in the disciplines of regulatory compliance, corporate strategy, finance, planning, branding, crisis management and communications. You are a direct reflection of your management team and your Board of Directors, and this program helps elevate your skills in all of these areas, while allowing for long-lasting networking opportunities with your peers.”
CIRI’s mandate is to contribute to the transparency and integrity of the Canadian capital market by advancing the practice of investor relations, the professional competency of its members, and the stature of the profession. Recognizing that there was a need for formal education in the field of investor relations, CIRI developed a program with the Ivey Business School covering all relevant areas of this multi-disciplinary role, including capital markets, corporate governance, securities law, finance and communications. Once individuals successfully complete the program, they are required to write an exam (administered by CIRI) to attain the Certified Professional in Investor Relations (CPIR) designation. This is the first investor relations designation program in North America. To learn more about the CIRI/Ivey Investor Relations Certification Program or to apply for the 2016 program, visit CIRI.org.
