ISTANBUL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Integrated telecoms and technology services provider Turkcell (NYSE:TKC)(BIST:TCELL) has added two new features to BiP – its IP-based communication application. BiP users will now be able to enjoy voice and video calls in addition to creative messaging services.
BiP, which is one of the most popular IP-based communication applications in Turkey, has been dowloaded more than 3.3 million times as of today. The application is available for free on Android and iOS, and can be downloaded by users who are not Turkcell’s mobile subscribers in addition to Turkcell subscribers. Voice and video call features were launched with 1GB data gift to Turkcell subscribers.
BiP, a mobile application developed entirely in Turkey, is one of the cornerstones of Turkcell’s growth strategy in mobile services and in the international arena. The application had already been downloaded in 166 countries prior to the addition of video and voice call features. It has been launched in Germany and Northern Cyprus in Turkish language. Turkcell has also announced plans to launch BiP in Ukraine and Belarus in local languages and with local content.
In addiiton to the recently added voice and video call options, BiP offers disappearing messages feature, allows users to create and share internet memes, and comes with a wide range of “stickers” – cartoons designed by popular Turkish artist Erdil Yasaroglu.
