BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This holiday season, Invaluable, the world’s leading online live auction marketplace, and Zachys Wine Auctions, the premier auction house for fine wines, have partnered to make the 1900+ bottles of fine wine and spirits offered in Zachys Holiday Auction available to online bidders around the world. Featuring the private collection of Bob Hudson, the sale includes notable bottles of Bordeaux and California cabernet, along with a selection of Burgundy from Rouget, Clos de Tart, Groffier and others. Also offering a spotlight on Italy, the auction features Super Tuscans of Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Masseto, as well as Barolo and Barbaresco from Giacosa, Conterno and Voerzio.
The Holiday Auction is scheduled for December 4 and 5, 2015 at 9:30 am EST on both days of the sale. Bidders can place online bids in real-time during the live auction on Invaluable.com, or by using the Invaluable app for iPad and iPhone.
“The holidays are the perfect time to enjoy an exceptional bottle of wine with friends and family, and we are excited to give our online bidders the opportunity to own the notable, and very drinkable, offerings in Zachys’ Holiday Auction this year,” said Rob Weisberg, Invaluable CEO. “From a significant selection of Burgundy and Bordeaux to go with a special holiday dinner, to fine Champagne to ring in the New Year, Zachys truly offers something for everyone in this distinguished sale.”
A highlight of the auction from the collection of Bob Hudson is a 15L of Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2000 (estimated at $24,000 - $36,000), which was purchased at the 2008 South Beach Wine and Food Festival Auction, at which Baroness de Rothschild was the donor. Other notable lots from the collection include 12 bottles of Vega Sicilia Unico 1994 (estimated at $4,000 - $6,000), six bottles of Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 (estimated at $10,000 - $15,000) and six bottles of Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes Domaine Ponsot 2011 (estimated at $4,200 - $6,500).
Additional highlights from the two-day auction include 12 bottles of Chateau Petrus 1990 (estimated at $30,000 - $48,000), a bottle of Macallan Select Reserve 52 Year Old Single Malt 1946 (estimated at $10,000 - $15,000), a bottle of Philipponnat Clos des Goisses 1952 (estimated at $3,400 - $5,500) and three bottles of Krug 1998 (estimated at $7,000 - $11,000).
“The Holiday Auction is always a fun one at Zachys – we like to close out the year with a bang, and 2015’s no different,” said Jeff Zacharia, Zachys President. “With such a wide selection of fine wines available, we hope Invaluable bidders will be able to find the perfect pairing for their holiday dinner, to give as a gift to a loved one or to add to their collection this holiday season.”
