Roku Now Offers Access to All Major Video Streaming Services and Catch-up TV Channels in the UK

CAMBRIDGE, England--()--Roku, Inc. today announced the launch of Amazon Video on the Roku® streaming platform in the UK. Amazon Video offers Roku customers access to more than 50,000 popular and new release movies and TV episodes they can instantly rent or buy, while Amazon Prime members can stream a library of more than 15,000 movies and TV episodes. With the addition of Amazon Video, Roku offers British users access to all major streaming services including Netflix, Google Play Movies, Sky Store and NOW TV plus all major television catch-up channels including BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5.

“Amazon Video is one of the most popular streaming services among British consumers and we are delighted to make it available to our UK customers,” said Ed Lee, vice president of content acquisition at Roku. “With the addition of Amazon Video in the UK we now have the most comprehensive streaming channel line-up among major video streaming services and catch-up TV channels.”

With access to the extensive Amazon Video collection of movies and TV shows, Roku customers can instantly rent or buy popular titles such as Game of Thrones Season 5, The Walking Dead Season 5, Taken 3, Minions and Kingsmen: The Secret Service. Additionally Prime Members now have access to the largest selection of movies and TV shows of any UK streaming service through Roku, including Amazon exclusive hit shows Transparent, Ripper Street, Outlander, Vikings and MR. ROBOT.

Earlier this year Roku launched its universal search feature in the UK that enables consumers to quickly find the content they want to watch. With Roku Search consumers can look for movies, TV shows, actors and directors across select streaming channels. Roku Search initially featured Netflix, Snagfilms and Popcornflix, and as of today also includes Amazon Video. Just like it has in the U.S., Roku aims to add additional streaming channels to Roku Search over time to offer consumers the most comprehensive and unbiased search offering in the market.

“UK customers will be delighted to hear that the Amazon Video channel is now available on all Roku streaming players,” said Jay Marine, VP of Amazon Video EU. “Our aim is to make Amazon Video available on all popular connected devices so our customers can access the blockbuster TV shows and movies only available as part of Prime - the UK’s largest streaming service.”
