LIVERMORE, Calif.--()--Following the success of Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet blend, the winery announced today the launch of Cupcake Vineyards Black Forest. This newest addition to the Cupcake Vineyards portfolio brings a rich decadence beside the softer Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet blend.

With notes of blackberry and cherry with hints of mocha and spice, the Cupcake Vineyards 2013 Black Forest is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Petit Verdot, and Petite Sirah. The grapes are sourced from a selection of coastal California vineyards.

About half of the blend is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles on the Central Coast, which gives a strong backbone tannin base to the wine. Merlot makes up a quarter of the blend and brings out blackberry notes with a soft elegance. Lodi Zinfandel adds flavors of strawberry jam and rich spice to the wine. The blend is finished with a touch of Petit Verdot for structure and a splash of Petite Sirah to round out the tannins.

“In crafting Cupcake Vineyards Black Forest, my vision was to create a deep, powerful wine. Each varietal in the blend adds a unique layer of complexity. The result is a decadent wine to sip and savor,” said Cupcake Vineyards winemaker Jessica Tomei.

Cupcake Vineyards Black Forest is currently available nationwide with a suggested retail price of $10.99.
