SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Coupa Software, the leader in cloud-based spend management, today announced that Markus Hornburg has joined the company as vice president of global product compliance. In this role, Hornburg is responsible for continued execution of Coupa’s global compliance strategy.
Based in Germany, Hornburg brings more than 15 years of experience helping manage compliance for technology businesses and working with government regulators. He joins Coupa directly from Tungsten Corporation plc (LSE:TUNG), where he was vice president of compliance and head of new markets for Tungsten Network. He led the company’s compliance efforts and new market development. Hornburg‘s responsibilities included extensive work with a number of governments and large companies on regulations around e-invoicing, tax, and corporate governance.
“I have seen first-hand the tremendous expertise and influence Markus has in global invoicing regulatory compliance in Europe, Asia and Latin America,” said Xavier Olivera, vice president of P2P Research at Spend Matters. “This is a significant hire for Coupa as he will accelerate Coupa’s compliance efforts in two ways. First, he’s a guru in the area and will no doubt help build out Coupa’s own e-invoicing compliance capabilities by bringing targeted expertise. Secondly, Markus will leverage his extensive government and partner relationships to drive Coupa’s localization efforts in different countries – which is central to regional e-invoicing compliance.”
On October 22, Hornburg will present at Coupa Inspire from 2:30 p.m. CEST to 3:20 p.m. CEST at The Westin Paris - Vendome. His presentation is titled “Navigating the Maze of Global Compliance from e-Invoicing to Expense” and will cover the world of tax compliance while providing the latest updates on compliance across Europe, the Americas, Asia and beyond.
“Markus brings exceptional global compliance knowledge and leadership to Coupa,” said David Williams, vice president of technology at Coupa Software. “His experience will deepen our team, continually strengthen our product offering, and provide insight to government regulations. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Prior to Tungsten Network, Hornburg served as principal business consultant for SAP where he was involved in rolling out the Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) software solution to various markets.
“Coupa is widely recognized as a leader in e-invoicing and expense management,” said Hornburg. “The level of innovation that I have watched the company deliver in the last several years is incredible. I am thrilled to be a part of our customers’ ongoing compliance success.”
