Week Three of National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2015: Cybergy Holdings, Inc. Discusses “Connected Communities: Staying Protected While Always Staying Aware”

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--()--It is week three of National Cyber Security Awareness Month and Cybergy Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB: CYBG), a national leader in cybersecurity, smart grid, and clean energy technologies and services for governmental and commercial clients, would like to take the opportunity to discuss the importance of this week’s theme, “Connected Communities: Staying Protected While Always Staying Aware.”

The theme stresses the importance of staying protected while using the internet on-the-go with the larger purpose of making people better digital citizens in both the real-world and virtual communities. As part of this effort, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is freely providing a “Mobile Security Tip Card” and a “Social Media Guide” that contains best practices in the form of simple tips for using mobile devices and social media, as well as links to additional resources including what to do if you are a victim of cyber-crime.

Cybergy Holdings strongly supports the efforts of DHS and reiterates that its core mission is to ensure that its customers and clients have the tools to become well-informed digital citizens.

“DHS’s best practices are focused on ensuring individuals’ online data privacy while creating online communities comprising of informed digital citizens,” said Wyly Wade, Chief Technology Officer for Cybergy Holdings and Cybergy Labs. “DHS’s goal is of paramount importance for us at the Cybergy family of companies. Our SmartFile electronic tagging system was created precisely to ensure the privacy of our customers’ data and provide them the information and tools to help them know who is accessing and utilizing their data.”

Terry DiVittorio, Vice President Cyber Operations for Cybergy Labs, explained that our desire to be connected everywhere we go and on any device of our choosing is only going to grow as more data becomes available to us and we become accustomed to ‘all-the-time access.’ “Think for a minute about the sheer volume of available applications we access and download to our mobile devices daily, now think how often any of us may have said to themselves, I wonder if this app is as safe or secure as it is cool or flashy.” DiVittorio further added, “Another important thing to remember is that when we leave the protected boundaries of our home and company networks we no longer enjoy the ‘inherited security controls’ those networks provide and we must have a heightened sense of awareness of the dangers of wireless access points and shared hotspots.”

Mark Gray, Chairman and CEO of Cybergy Holdings, noted, “Just as the best cybersecurity defenses for a business or organization start with its employees, similarly the digital security of our ever-more-connected online communities begins with individual citizens.”

Mr. Gray has directed Cybergy’s efforts to create products and services that will not only enhance the user experience but also will provide inherent security and assure peace of mind around the security of our clients’ data.

“Cybergy Holdings is heavily invested in the Internet of Things and sees security as a critical success factor in its continual evolution,” said Mr. Gray.
