Acquired by SmartBear earlier this year, Swagger is the leading API description format used by developers in almost every modern programming language and deployment environment to design and deliver APIs that fuel IoT, microservices and mobile applications.
The 2.0 specification evolved Swagger beyond just a description format and into the source of truth for APIs. While this began with the Javascript Swagger-node project, today this technique has expanded to Java and Python servers. Now, client and server teams can iterate on API design in parallel with the server-side API implementation. In his session, Tony Tam explains how this contract-first development cycle is so empowering and shows how to get started using Swagger-inflector.
Tony Tam recently joined SmartBear as VP of Products, Swagger. He has been the driving force behind Swagger since it began in 2011. During the development of Swagger, Tony served as the founder and CEO of Reverb, where he led development efforts of the site's innovative word navigation system. Swagger was created in response to a need his development team expressed for a better way to describe REST APIs. After making Swagger open source, he has continued to be the guiding force that moved the specification forward and created a vibrant enthusiastic community around it. Follow Tony on Twitter @fehguy.
SmartBear recently released SwaggerHub, a free platform that allows teams to collaborate on and coordinate across the entire workflow of an API’s lifecycle. SwaggerHub leverages a centralized definition to allow the whole team to work together to iteratively design, build, document and manage an API.
