Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants Coming November 4th

Los Angeles Times Serves Up New Launch Party and Video Series in Celebration of This Year’s Guide to Essential Local Dining

LOS ANGELES--()--The Los Angeles Times will publish Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants, the authoritative annual guide to local dining, on November 4th. The highly anticipated and hotly debated ranking of essential L.A. eateries will first publish on latimes.com and the L.A. Times app. The glossy premium print edition will be delivered to Times’ Saturday subscribers on November 7th. In honor of this year’s best, Gold will host a 101 launch party at Union Station on the evening of November 4th.

Gold’s restaurant guide documents L.A.’s culinary culture through a collection of new capsule reviews by the Pulitzer Prize-winning critic paired with images from The Times’ renowned photographers. The digital edition allows consumers to chart their courses throughout the year using a favorites list and an interactive map. Princess Cruises is sponsoring unlimited access to the 101 online for a week, after which the guide is available exclusively to Times subscribers and for an in-app purchase of $2.99. The print edition will be available in the L.A. Times online store for $4.99.

Union Station’s Mission Revival-style Main Concourse will provide the setting for the Gold 101 launch party, which will feature sweet and savory plates and craft cocktails from a dozen handpicked restaurants as well as a special chef-driven playlist. Tickets are $125, or $101 for Times subscribers, and go on sale at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

On the occasion of the 101, and since Gold has relinquished his anonymity, The Times is also debuting a video series called “Jonathan Gold’s Los Angeles” on November 7th. In the six-episode series of five-minute videos, Gold introduces a few of the individual chefs and signature dishes that illustrate why Southern California has become a culinary capital.
