TORONTO--()--IMDb, the #1 movie website in the world, congratulates Brie Larson, Lenny Abrahamson and the entire cast and crew of ROOM on their Audience Award win today at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). On September 14, Brie Larson (TRAINWRECK, SHORT TERM 12) received the “IMDb STARmeter Award” at IMDb’s TIFF 2015 dinner party. This award recognizes the stars who are breakout favorites on IMDbPro’s STARmeter chart, which is determined by the actual search behavior of IMDb’s more than 250 million unique monthly visitors worldwide. Lenny Abrahamson, director of ROOM, and Col Needham, IMDb’s founder and CEO, jointly presented Larson with the award at IMDb’s annual Toronto International Film Festival dinner party.

“We are thrilled that ROOM received the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival Audience Award today, just six days after Brie Larson, star of ROOM, was presented with IMDb’s 2015 TIFF STARmeter Award, which recognizes those stars who have had a breakout year on IMDbPro’s STARmeter chart,” said Col Needham, IMDb’s founder and CEO. “I believe this is just the beginning of a very busy award season for Brie and ROOM, a film that is likely to end up on my personal top 10 movies of 2015 list.”

IMDb began giving out annual TIFF STARmeter Awards at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival when Olivia Wilde was presented with IMDb’s inaugural award for her work in the TIFF 2013 films RUSH and THIRD PERSON. Paul Haggis, writer/director of THIRD PERSON, joined Col Needham to present Wilde with the award at IMDb’s TIFF 2013 dinner party. IMDb has since presented STARmeter Awards to Miles Teller for his role in WHIPLASH at TIFF 2014 and Jeffrey Tambor for his work in TRANSPARENT at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. WHIPLASH writer/director Damien Chazelle and Col Needham presented the award to Teller at IMDb’s 2014 TIFF dinner party. Tambor was presented with his award in January 2015 at IMDb’s annual Sundance Film Festival dinner by TRANSPARENT co-stars Jay Duplass and Amy Landecker, as well TRANSPARENT’s creator, Jill Soloway.
