LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ultra Electronics, 3eTI®, a leading cyber-technology company with products and solutions that secure critical infrastructure and improve operational efficiency, today announced SCADAWatch, a cyber security appliance that detects and alerts on an attack within defenseless serial–based automation networks. SCADAWatch is the first product to detect a network intrusion or anomaly while preserving operational performance.
Serial-based protocols such as CANopen, Profibus, and DeviceNet are used for critical platforms from vehicle control to power generation and have been the subject of recent high-profile attacks. Serial-based automation and controls systems currently are unmonitored, and assumed uncompromised, making them ideal targets for a cyber-attack. SCADAWatch is the first product to passively detect an unauthorized or malicious action, generating an alert without degrading critical system operations.
SCADAWatch complements the 3eTI CyberFence® product family known for its unsurpassed certified, defense-in-depth protection, with robust firewalls, encryption and deep-packet inspection (DPI) that meets military and industrial standards. Using SCADAWatch, a serially controlled system such as a ship monitoring-and-control network or an advanced weapon system will be able to distinguish between a sophisticated cyber-attack and equipment failure. This capability provides early warning to an operator, allowing an immediate and accurate response to unauthorized activity that can critically impact mission performance.
"Extending visibility into the serial domain enables operators to quickly and decisively take action in response to attempted malicious commands," said Benga Erinle, President, 3eTI. "SCADAWatch provides the last, most fundamental line of defense to strengthen machine-to-machine communications within major platform applications in a form factor that can be deployed rapidly and safely."
SCADAWatch currently supports CANopen/CAN bus networks with additional protocol support to be released in the near future. The new appliance underscores 3eTI’s commitment to proactively deliver solutions that meet stringent international standards and to provide the capability to address increasingly sophisticated threats. CyberFence products and systems are designed for both military and industrial applications. They are built to modernize communications systems that safeguard against external hackers, malware infections, deliberate insider attacks and unauthorized devices. CANopen/CAN bus is the latest protocol to be supported in the CyberFence family that provides robust cyber security for industrial protocols including DNP3, MODBUS, EtherNet/IP and OPC.
SCADAWatch will be available in Q1 2016.
3eTI will be demonstrating its CyberFence solution at DSEI 2015 this week in ExCeL, London at the Ultra Electronics booth (#S2-380).
