SAN FRANCISCO & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Riffsy (www.riffsy.com), the mobile-first video company behind the leading GIF and short video communication tool, GIF Keyboard, today announced that it has appointed Omar H. Téllez to its executive advisor board to guide their global expansion across different messaging platforms.
Riffsy attracts more than 5 billion monthly mobile GIF and video views and recently raised a $10M Series A from Menlo Ventures. In its next phase of growth, Riffsy plans to focus on international and localizing GIF Keyboard.
"Omar's vision and guidance has enabled other companies like Moovit (Sequoia, Nokia Ventures), Solomoto (Blumberg) and Synchronoss (NASDAQ: SNCR) to secure strategic areas of hyper growth globally,” said Riffsy co-founder and CEO, David McIntosh. “As we prepare for our next phase of growth, we wanted to secure proven expertise to advise us globally.”
"The explosive growth of messaging applications like WhatsApp, WeChat, QQ, and Viber, among others, has proven that messaging will be the first universal app for humanity,” said Omar H. Téllez. “As users are exposed to richer forms of messaging, GIFs will be setting the tone for how we share experiences with each other, adding spirit, emotion, and humor while tapping into cultural memes.”
Riffsy enables frictionless sharing though convenient search, discovery, and single-tap sharing of GIFs across social platforms like Twitter and Facebook, and text, iMessage and messaging in apps like WhatsApp, Hike, Hipchat and Slack. By tagging GIFs into categories, users can search millions of GIFs to find the one that perfectly expresses a feeling, emotion or moment. Messengers are the leading apps globally according to recent data from App Annie, and Riffsy is making sharing GIFs and video in these apps as easy as texting an emoji.
