Nationally Recognized Healthcare Executive and Physician Joins the GlobalMed Team

Dr. Bill Lewis, a specialist in emergency medicine and occupational health, is the new chief medical officer of the leading connected healthcare delivery company.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--GlobalMed® CEO and founder Joel E. Barthelemy has announced that Bill Lewis, MD, MBA, will assume the duties as the company’s CMO, providing clinical expertise and executive strategic oversight in areas like product management, integration of healthcare systems, reimbursement and workflow.

“I have known Dr. Lewis, Bill, for several years now, and I could not be more honored for his involvement and medical leadership with our team and our valued clients,” said Barthelemy. “Bill has amazing experience and a grasp for all things telemedicine.”

Dr. Lewis comes to GlobalMed with 20 years’ experience as the Senior Vice President of Medical Operations for Concentra Health Services, where he supervised more than 400 physicians in 10 states with 140 clinics. He developed and implemented telemedicine programs along with guidelines and protocols to facilitate treatment of 60% of presenting primary care cases. He was the lead physician in the Concentra initiative in 2007 to convert its occupational clinics to mixed use urgent care and occupational facilities.

In addition to his role with Concentra, he has consulted multidisciplinary teams in Fortune 500 companies and agencies focused on growth initiatives to provide assessment, support and strategic planning in the areas of occupational medicine, urgent care, telemedicine and wellness.

Dr. Lewis is board certified in Emergency Medicine. He received his medical degree from The Ohio State University and did his postgraduate residency at the University of Oklahoma.

He served on the Board of Directors of the Western Occupational and Environmental Association and the American Telemedicine Association’s Standards and Guidelines Primary Care Working Group. He also served on the Arizona Industrial Commission Evidence Based Medicine Committee and is currently a member of the EBM Pilot Program.
