Truven Health Analytics to Provide Consulting Support for Hospitals Included in CMS’ Proposed Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CCJR) Model

Analytic and Operational Expertise Key to Hospital Success with First Mandatory Bundled Payment Model

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--()--Truven Health Analytics™, a leading provider of healthcare data and analytics solutions and services, announced that it will provide consulting support for hospitals as they adopt the proposed Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CCJR) Program, the first mandatory bundled payment model from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The five-year CCJR program, which launches on January 1, 2016, will require hospitals in 75 selected Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) to take responsibility for quality and total spending over a 90-day period for elective and urgent joint replacement procedures. The program is designed to test bundled payment and quality measurement for an episode of care associated with hip and knee replacements to encourage hospitals, physicians, and post-acute care providers to work together to improve the quality and coordination of care from the initial hospitalization through recovery.

“Because CCJR is mandatory in selected markets, affected hospitals need to understand the revenue and margin impact of the new payment methodology,” said Sally Akers, Truven Health vice president of provider solutions consulting. “A data-driven evaluation of hospital-specific and regional performance will be a key success factor under CCJR. The time to start preparing is right now.”
