JERSEY CITY, N.J--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Datapipe, a global leader in managed hybrid IT solutions for the enterprise, in conjunction with TechAnax, a professional services firm providing customized information technology and management consulting solutions to the government, today announced the companies have been awarded a new services contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Under the Northeast Region 4 Datacenter Hosting and Support Services contract, Datapipe and TechAnax will be planning and executing data center migration and ongoing hosting support services with a team of contractors as part of the multi-million dollar deal. The contract consists of a one-year base period and a four-year option period with the ability to transition applications into Datapipe’s FISMA compliant private cloud environment.
TechAnax, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and the prime contractor on the project, is leading Datapipe and the rest of the team in planning the migration and transition services necessary to relocate the VA’s IT equipment. The supporting critical operations will be moved to a Datapipe-managed Equinix data center in the New York City area, which can accommodate the large-scale project’s racks and cabinets.
“There are a lot of moving parts to this contract, from designing the physical hosting environment for efficiency to installing new rack monitoring devices,” said Byron Athan, CEO and President, TechAnax. “Having a partner like Datapipe to manage the day-to-day operations at a fixed price was a crucial factor in winning this bid and allows us to focus on what we do best; implementing innovative strategies to help our clients optimize their services. As part of this strategy, we are hoping to move the VA’s operations to the cloud in year three, at which point Datapipe’s experience with the stringent security and availability requirements of government agencies is going to be invaluable.”
Datapipe will be initially responsible for providing all physical support during the transition, as well as ongoing data center monitoring and maintenance. All services provided by Datapipe in both the base and option periods adhere to FISMA High regulations and security requirements. Additionally, Datapipe’s involvement in the project satisfies two key federal mandates:
- The Federal Mandate for Data Center Consolidation, which addresses decades of redundant IT investments that have resulted in a costly, unsustainable, and inefficient IT infrastructure;
- The Cloud First Policy, which mandates that agencies take full advantage of cloud computing benefits to maximize capacity utilization, improve IT flexibility and responsiveness, and minimize cost. The contract includes the option to migrate to Datapipe’s FISMA compliant private cloud environment during the four-year option period.
“We’ve been deploying and managing high-secure cloud, dedicated, and hybrid infrastructure for more than 15 years,” said Dan Tudahl, President and General Manager, Datapipe Government Solutions (DGS). “We’ve worked with the VA on several past projects and our strategic partnership with Equinix gives us access to a data center that meet the exact requirements for this project. We’re honored and excited to be involved and look forward to eventually moving this project completely to the cloud.”
The contract formally started on July 1, 2015 and all operations will be transitioned into the new data center in the next 12 – 18 months.
