NSTA Press Honored with Publishing Industry Awards

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) has been honored with a number of prestigious awards and accolades from the Association of American Publishers (AAP), Association Media & Publishing (AM&P), and the International Literacy Association and Children’s Book Council (ILA and CBC). Recognized and rewarded for being among the best in the learning resources industry, NSTA Press books received four awards, NSTA’s popular journal Science and Children received one, and NSTA Recommends Fall 2014 catalog received one.

“It’s an honor for both our books and journals to be recognized at this level by the education and publishing communities,” said David Beacom, Publisher and Associate Executive Director, NSTA. “Our publications showcase our ongoing efforts to create high-quality educational materials and innovative, content-rich products that support and enhance science learning for teachers and students. NSTA won two awards and was a finalist in eight other categories in the AAP 2015 REVERE Awards program. The REVERE Awards program is considered one of the most prestigious and comprehensive recognition programs in the learning resource community. Formerly known as the AEP Awards program, this annual event continues a decades-long tradition of honoring excellence across all resources for preK–12 and adult learners, educators, and administrators.

NSTA was honored with two AM&P EXCEL Awards, which recognize excellence and leadership in nonprofit association media, publishing, and communications.

In addition to the awards listed above, NSTA’s Next Time You See the Moon was included in the ILA/CBC Children’s Choice 2015 Reading List. Each year, more than 12,500 children from across the U.S. read newly published children’s and young adult trade books and vote for the ones they like best. The 2015 Children’s Choices were selected from more than 600 titles.

Next Time You See a Maple Seed was also selected for the 2015 Outstanding Science Trade Books (OSTB) for Students K–12 list. Books were selected by a panel appointed by NSTA and assembled in cooperation with the CBC.
