WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are proud to recognize HP as a Platinum level sponsor for the 35th National Veterans Wheelchair Games. HP will also sponsor Kids Day, being held today, which is a special event held during the Games each year where local area children with disabilities are introduced to adaptive sports. Close to 600 veterans are competing in this year’s Games, which began Monday in Dallas, Texas, and continue through June 26.

This marks the 17th year that HP will sponsor the National Veterans Wheelchair Games—the largest annual wheelchair multi-sports event in the world, now in its 35th year. HP will also provide computer and printer equipment for the Internet Café which is available to all athletes for the entire length of the National Veterans Wheelchair Games.

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games, presented annually by Paralyzed Veterans and VA, are open to all U.S. military veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition as a result of spinal cord injury, certain neurological conditions, amputations or other mobility impairments, and who receive care at VA medical facilities or military treatment centers.

Veterans at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games will compete in 18 events: air guns, archery, basketball, boccia, bowling, handcycling, a motorized wheelchair rally, nine ball, power soccer, quad rugby, slalom, softball, swimming, table tennis, track and field, trapshooting and weightlifting. This year’s Games will also feature a rowing exhibition. Athletes compete in all events against others with similar athletic ability, competitive experience or age.
