CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ueberall International, a world leading experiential design firm, and E Ink® Holdings, "E Ink" (8069.TW), the leading innovator of electronic ink technology in the world, today announced e°FLOW, a ground breaking project combining art, media and state-of-the-art technology. Designed to be responsive to audience stimulus, e°FLOW is an interactive sculpture conceived by artist Nik Hafermaas of Ueberall. e°FLOW consists of 52 strips of E Ink Prism™ 16 feet long and formed in the shape of a large band of fibers and uses motion sensing transducers to activate the Prism film. Through external sensory inputs, e°FLOW comes alive by detecting and responding to the presence and movement of people in its vicinity, similar to an elusive deep-sea creature.
e°FLOW is the result of an intensive collaboration between E Ink and Ueberall. The composition utilizes the recently introduced Prism film for architecture and Ueberall’s expertise in creating narrative designs and unique spatial experiences. “Prism has unlocked unprecedented creative opportunities and allowed us to take mediatecture to a new level,” said Nik Hafermaas, co-founder of Ueberall International. “e°FLOW is truly a wonderful confluence of design, technology and teamwork. We’re thrilled to be showcasing e°FLOW at this year’s SEGD NEXPO.”
Prism expands the scope of electronic ink into applications beyond displays. Artists and architects now have a unique way of transforming surfaces by introducing dynamic elements into their designs in a way that was previously impossible. “e°FLOW clearly demonstrates many of Prism’s distinctive advantages and only begins to show what is possible,” said Paul G. Apen, chief strategy officer of E Ink. “We are extremely excited with the result of our collaboration and look to new projects in the future that will further demonstrate Prism’s unique benefits.”
e°FLOW will be on display during the SEGD NEXPO Conference at the Sheraton Towers in Chicago, June 4-6, 2015. You can learn more about e°FLOW and Prism by attending Nik Hafermass’s presentation during the Experiential Learning Series: Making/Space, Thursday afternoon at the conference.
