WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today applauded the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) announced intention to further expand preclearance facilities in regions served by U.S. airlines.
“U.S. airlines drive $1.5 trillion in economic activity, and by improving the passenger experience for visitors or those returning to the United States, while improving security, we can build on that,” said A4A President & CEO Nick Calio. “The addition of these pre-clearance airports will help increase safety and security while improving the passenger experience with shorter wait times and quicker connections on arrival in the U.S.”
The addition of Amsterdam Airport Schipol, London Heathrow Airport, Manchester Airport, Madrid-Barajas Airport, Brussels Airport, Tokyo Narita International Airport, Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Oslo International Airport, Punta Cana International Airport, and Istanbul Ataturk Airport to the Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) pre-clearance program brings the agency one step closer to its goal to have a third of all U.S.-bound air travelers undergo pre-clearance by 2024.
