NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI), an asset management company of Allianz SE, announced today that Brian Gaffney will retire from the firm as CEO US at the end of the year. Douglas Eu, currently CEO Asia Pacific, will succeed Brian as CEO US in 2016.
“During his eight years with the firm, Brian has been a driving force behind the development of our US business, building strong partnerships with clients, as well as being a deeply insightful member of our Global Executive Committee,” said Elizabeth Corley, Global CEO of Allianz Global Investors. “Doug is a natural choice to take over leadership of AllianzGI in the US given his knowledge of and experience with the US market combined with his track record of successfully growing our business in Asia Pacific by leveraging the breadth of the firm’s global capabilities to meet clients’ distinct needs.”
Doug joined Allianz Global Investors as CEO Asia Pacific in 2006 from JF Asset Management (now part of JP Morgan Asset Management) where he spent a total of 19 years. He started his career at JF Securities as a research analyst in 1987 and joined JF investment Management (subsequently changed to JF Asset Management) in 1990 as a fund manager, becoming the market specialist for Greater China in 1992. In 1997, he moved into business management with responsibility for various regional Asian businesses. Prior to joining AllianzGI, Doug was Chief Executive of JF Fund Limited, a fund management subsidiary of JF Asset Management. He has an A.B. in Economics from Vassar College and a Master’s in Business from London Business School.
