CLAYTON, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today United Compounding Management (“UCM”) announced a strategic partnership with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (“NABP”) to enhance the process and standards of accreditation for compounding pharmacies. NABP, a nationally respected, impartial professional organization whose key mission is focused on supporting state boards of pharmacy in protecting public health, will be administering the United Compounding Credentialing and Accreditation Program (“UCAP”) exclusively for UCM. UCM is an independent compound management company that applies proven techniques and tools through a certified network of credentialed and accredited providers to provide solutions to the marketplace that make quality compounding affordable and accessible.
Using NABP’s Verified Pharmacy Program (“VPP”) as its foundation, the UCAP credentialing and accreditation program includes a review of business and quality practices, attestation to a code of conduct, and compounding specific requirements. NABP’s extensive experience in licensure and pharmacy review coupled with their broad national reach allows for both a more cost effective and time efficient quality accreditation review process with which pharmacies can work in meeting many of today’s regulatory and market requirements. Additionally, in undergoing UCAP accreditation, pharmacies can meet regulatory inspection requirements for non-resident licensure in several states, including Virginia and Texas.
“NABP views its partnership with UCM as a leading effort to ensure the safety of patients receiving compounded products,” said NABP Executive Director/Secretary Carmen A. Catizone, MS, RPh, DPh. “We are pleased to partner with UCM and support their credentialing and accreditation program with our Verified Pharmacy Program in order to achieve our shared goal of safe and effective medications for patients.”
“Since UCM’s inception, we remain committed to our mission of delivering solutions to the marketplace that make quality compounding affordable and accessible,” stated UCM CEO, David Ott. “Our partnership with NABP brings confidence to payers, patients and pharmacies in an accreditation program that is both impartial and of the highest caliber. UCM is extremely proud of the progress we are making as we work together to deliver a solution to the compounding market built on quality and delivering value to all parties.”
