COLUMBUS, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mark Immelman and Brookstone School have joined together to launch the Mark Immelman Golf Academy providing superior golf coaching and an extraordinary college preparatory education for players looking to reach their ultimate potential or the professional rank. The Academy is tailored to developing well-rounded student athletes in the classroom and on the course. “I am extremely excited to open this Academy,” says Immelman. “For golfers who love the game, love working hard, and love challenges, we can promise a great experience on and off the course.”
Students in the Academy will participate in a college preparatory curriculum which includes rigorous mainstream courses, the challenge of honors and advanced placement courses, and stimulating, educationally enriching electives. The school campus is in a college-like setting located on 100 acres in northwest Columbus, Georgia. The afternoons will be dedicated to structured team practices and personal golf instruction by Mark Immelman and his team. Sessions will include mental training, course and game management. In addition to being an international golf commentator and writer, Immelman is recognized as one of the best teachers of the game worldwide. In his four seasons playing for Columbus State University (CSU), Immelman was a three-time All-American (1992, 94, 95) and a two-time Academic All-American. He has worked with an abundance of professionals including Trevor, Larry Mize (1998 Masters Champion), Louis Oosthuizen (2010 British Open Champion), and many other PGA, European, Nationwide, and Africa’s Sunshine tours professionals. Year round golfing weather in Columbus affords Academy golfers plenty of time to practice both on the range and on-course at the beautiful Green Island Country Club. On the range lessons and team practices take place at the brand new, high-tech CSU teaching facility. Nutrition and golf-specific fitness training will be provided in partnership with Chris Kendrick, strength and conditioning coach of the Columbus State University Golf Team as well as trainer to several local and non-local professional and amateur golfers.
“Recognizing the need for emerging golfers to have the opportunity to accelerate their development, while continuing their education, we felt it was a great time to respond with a program that offers an experienced coaching staff, a unique conditioning program, and a superior education,” stated Mark Immelman.
