FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--According to a new survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Virgin Pulse, the market leader in the rapidly-growing employee health engagement category, 93 percent of senior-level executives say that living a healthy lifestyle can prevent employees from feeling burnt out.
How can executives and managers help their staffs avoid running on empty? Eighty-three percent of executives say that employee wellness programs can prevent employees from feeling burnt out. Additionally, 89 percent of executives say that it’s important to ensure their employees have the best available well-being programs.
“Employee burnout is a major concern for U.S. companies, but an overwhelming majority of executives understand that healthy living is key to combating this issue, which is encouraging,” said Chris Boyce, CEO of Virgin Pulse. “As managers, we have to commit to helping our employees live healthy, less stressful lifestyles. Employee well-being isn’t just about lowering blood pressure or quitting smoking. It’s about helping employees find balance and replenish what life’s hectic pace depletes on a daily basis.”
As part of the survey, executives were asked about the correlation between healthy living and productivity. Ninety-seven percent of executives say that healthier employees are more productive than non-healthy employees. This dedication to employee health and well-being creates a domino effect that’s great for business. Employees are happier, more engaged and productive, and more likely to be loyal to their companies.
Do all major organizations practice what they preach? Not necessarily. While nearly 9 in 10 (89 percent) executives recognize the importance of having the best available well-being programs for their employees, only 74 percent say that their company currently offers employees the best available options. By no means are effective well-being programs ubiquitous yet – there’s still some heavy lifting to do – but the survey results are encouraging.
