PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Janney Montgomery Scott LLC (“Janney”) today announced that three of the firm’s Financial Advisors have been named to the Financial Times 2015 list of Top 400 U.S. Financial Advisors. The advisors named from Janney are: Andrew Nehrbas, of Bryn Mawr, PA; Sheila Shaffer of Washington, D.C., and Allan Strange of Richmond, VA.

The formula used by the Financial Times to select the top 400 advisors was based on six broad factors including: assets under management; asset growth; years of experience; industry certification; Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) compliance record and online accessibility. In addition, to be considered for the FT 400 list, advisors must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience and at least $200 million in assets under management.
The three Janney Financial Advisors named to the FT 400 list are as follows:
Andrew Nehrbas, Bryn Mawr, PA
Andrew R. Nehrbas serves as
Executive Vice President/ Wealth Management, bringing to his clients a
long and accomplished career with over 39 years of experience in the
financial services industry. Andy entered the investment business by
initially partnering with his grandfather at Parrish Securities.
Eventually moving to Merrill Lynch, Andy quickly rose to become a member
of the President’s Council and then, in 1984, joined Legg Mason. Andy
joined Janney Montgomery Scott in 2009 and works in Janney’s Bryn Mawr,
PA office. Andy has previously been recognized as one of the “Top 1,000
Advisors” by Barron’s. Andy is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall
College. He is an avid squash player, having recently won the 50’s
National Amateur Championship in men’s doubles. A former President of
the Merion Cricket Club, Andy is actively involved with SquashSmarts,
Inc., and The Village.
Sheila S. Shaffer, Washington, D.C.
Sheila Shaffer is a
Certified Financial Planner CFP®, and has over 30 years of experience in
the financial services industry. Sheila and her team provide
personalized comprehensive wealth management, portfolio and investment
solutions for affluent clients. In 2012, Sheila completed the Retirement
Income Certified Professional Program (RICP®) with the University of
Pennsylvania Wharton School. In addition to her RICP® and CFP®, Sheila
maintains Series 7, 8, 63, 65, and life insurance licenses. Sheila
currently serves as one of four Financial Advisors on the Janney Board
of Managers (2012 - 2014) and she is a founding member of Janney’s
Women’s Interactive Network (WIN).
In 2014, she was selected to serve on Janney’s Financial Advisor Advisory Council, which provides a forum for ongoing dialogue between financial advisors and Janney senior management to promote increased productivity through idea exchange, operational efficiency and a superior client and FA experience. In addition, Sheila currently serves as President of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. Sheila is a devoted supporter of the Race for the Cure, DC Special Olympics, and The Contemporary American Theater Festival in Shepherdstown. Sheila earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Wake Forest University and remains an active Wake Forest University Alumnae.
Allan Strange, Richmond, VA
Allan Strange, Executive Vice
President/Wealth Management, has been advising clients on their
investments for more than 30 years, and consistently has been ranked by
Barron’s as a “Top Advisor,” being named to its list in 2009, 2011,
2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. He has been a member of Janney’s premier CEO
Roundtable since joining the firm in 2009, a member of Janney’s
Financial Advisor Advisory Council since 2012, and has earned the
Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation from Fiduciary 360. An avid
golfer, Allan played professionally for three years after graduating
from East Tennessee State University.
