Polen Capital Launches Global Growth Strategy

BOCA RATON, Fla.--()--Polen Capital, an independently-owned growth equity boutique, today announced that its Global Growth Equity strategy, managed by veteran global investment manager Julian Pick, is available to US investors.

The Global Growth Equity strategy adheres to the same active investment philosophy as Polen Capital’s flagship Focus Growth strategy, investing in a concentrated portfolio of leading growth businesses for the long-term.

Global Portfolio Manager Julian Pick has more than a quarter of a century of experience in the investment management business, spending the majority of his career as a Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager with Janus Capital in Denver, CO. He co-managed the Janus Institutional International Equity Portfolio and the Janus Advisor International Equity Fund. He also served as Co-Portfolio Manager of the Global Growth strategy for Sands Capital in Arlington, VA.

The Polen Global Growth Equity strategy seeks to invest in stocks of businesses in both the U.S. and foreign markets that are well positioned to capitalize on long-term growth opportunities and have strong financials, a sustainable competitive advantage and the potential for durable five-year earnings growth.

“Our objective is to identify and invest in the most dynamic businesses on the planet,” says Stan C. Moss, Chief Executive Officer of Polen Capital. “The Global Growth strategy gives investors the opportunity to benefit from a portfolio of the world’s best business ideas no matter where they are domiciled.”

The portfolio is typically limited to about 30 holdings that the portfolio manager believes have the best chance for sustained earnings growth. “We believe that higher quality companies not only have the potential to provide outsized returns,” says Mr. Pick, “but are also inherently less risky, as their financial strength and sustained earnings growth provide a ‘margin of safety’ that typically result in less fluctuation in volatile markets.”

With its focused portfolio, the investment team is able to take a very disciplined approach in the selection of each holding. Every business must meet the same strenuous criteria regardless of sector or geography.

“The overarching themes in our selection process are quality and sustainable long-term growth,” explains Mr. Pick. He looks for great businesses in leading sectors and geographies that he can buy with the intention of holding for at least five years.

“We believe quality prevails over the long-term,” adds Mr. Pick. “It allows us to own businesses that continue to grow through different business cycles because of their financial strength and competitive advantages. It’s a strategy that has proven itself over time.”

The Global Growth Equity strategy was initially launched on December 30, 2014. A new mutual fund, the Polen Global Growth Fund (PGIIX), which seeks to mirror the management and make-up of the Global Growth strategy, was also opened to new investors on the same date. The Polen Capital Focus Global Growth UCITS Fund was launched on January 29, 2015 for non-U.S. investors.
