LAKEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As a part of an ongoing commitment to sustainability, Warranty Solutions®, a Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) business, has donated one million trees through the Arbor Day Foundation® since the launch of its EcoMind® option in 2009.
A malfunctioning or poorly maintained vehicle can release as much as 10 times the emissions of a well-maintained one. To help address this carbon challenge, Warranty Solutions launched EcoMind in 2009 as an extended vehicle service product option designed to help consumers protect both their vehicles and the environment.
With each EcoMind option purchased from a participating dealer, Warranty Solutions makes a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation to purchase 25 trees. According to calculations using data from the U.S. Forest Department, donating one million trees is the environmental equivalent of removing 530,000 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
“EcoMind supports our customers’ desire to be environmentally friendly,” said Adam Pope, president of Warranty Solutions. “It also supports Wells Fargo’s overall environmental commitment and we look forward to protecting our customers’ vehicles and helping our nation’s forests thrive, one tree at a time.”
With each EcoMind option purchased, Warranty Solutions provides mechanical breakdown coverage for parts that help vehicles run more efficiently, burn fuel more cleanly and reduce overall emission output.
The EcoMind option costs $75, is available to consumers through participating auto dealers across the country and covers the following emissions-related components: vapor emissions canisters, distributor caps, catalytic converters, mufflers, exhaust pipes, PCV valves, smog pumps, spark plug wires, ignition coil boots and connectors.
Through the EcoMind option program, trees have been planted in the following communities:
Little River State Forest, Ala.
Modoc National Forest and Plumas
National Forest, Calif.
Pike National Forest, Colo.
Cary State
Forest, Fla.
Idaho Panhandle National Forest, Idaho
Michigan
State Forests and Pere Marquette State Forest, Mich.
Manchester

CTR TX (Bastrop State Park), Texas

To see how the program works, this Wells Fargo Stories video features commentary from a consumer, an auto dealer, an agent and the Arbor Day Foundation about EcoMind and the impact it has on the environment.
“Through our long-standing partnership with Warranty Solutions, we have been able to support cleaner air and water, habitat for wildlife and beauty for everyone to enjoy for years to come,” said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. “By supporting tree planting efforts, Warranty Solutions is demonstrating their commitment to helping the environment for this and future generations.”
