INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Formstack, an online form and lead generation solution, today announced the release of its annual form conversion benchmark report. The 2015 Form Conversion Report found conversion rates increased by as much as 189 percent when social media autofill features were used. The report also revealed that contest forms now convert at an average of 35 percent – seven points higher compared to last year’s results.
Gleaning data from more than 650,000 form users to establish up-to-date benchmarks across various industries, Formstack’s findings can help marketers increase conversions and arm sales representatives with information to better nurture leads.
“With our second annual Form Conversion benchmark report, we hope to help marketers identify the best tools and tactics to optimize content and increase conversions,” said Chris Byers, CEO of Formstack. “With information from more than 650,000 of our own form users, this in-depth look at how online forms are converting can further equip marketers for success.”
The 2015 Form Conversion Report identifies lead generation tactics, online form benchmarks and best practices, such as form type per industry and call-to-action (CTA), number of fields used, form length, peak submission times and key messaging for CTAs.
The report also found significant fluctuations across 10 different industries since the inaugural Form Conversion Report, including higher education, nonprofit, technology and sports. Nearly 90 percent of marketers today place increased emphasis on conversion rate optimization (CRO), and as a result, 73 percent of companies report more form completions and increased sales gains.
Additional key findings:
- Surveys and order/payment forms average 22 fields per form and yield conversion rates of 14 percent and 9 percent, respectively
- More than 50 percent of Internet access occurs on mobile devices, so forms should request only the most pertinent information from users
- Embedding contest forms in Facebook pages and other key social media channels can more than double conversion rates (from 9 percent to 20 percent)
- Few forms are filled out between 5 p.m. and 7:59 p.m., with contest forms – the highest converting type of form – earning peak submissions at 8 p.m.
“Our goal is to help marketers identify better performing messaging and forms for better lead generation and increased conversions,” said Chris Lucas, vice president of marketing, Formstack. “Optimized forms can be a valuable resource for any marketing team, and this report provides key insight based on data gleaned from real form users.”
