Prime Healthcare Responds to Attorney General Approval of Acquisition of Daughters of Charity Hospitals

ONTARIO, Calif.--()--Prime Healthcare released the following statement today regarding Attorney General Kamala Harris’s decision to approve the sale of Daughters of Charity Health System hospitals:

“Prime Healthcare is thankful for the Attorney General's approval of the sale of the Daughters of Charity Health System. Prime Healthcare is committed to saving the six safety-net hospitals of the Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) -- just as it has done with over 30 financially distressed hospitals across the country – and preserving their mission of care now and into the future. The conditions imposed on this sale by the Attorney General are extensive and many are unprecedented, including maintaining four hospitals as acute care hospitals and a fifth as a skilled nursing facility for a minimum of ten years. Prime Healthcare, with DCHS, will need to evaluate the viability and future stability of the DCHS hospitals under these conditions. Prime Healthcare and DCHS remain committed to ensuring a future for these hospitals that will allow them to continue their legacy of service and deliver the highest quality of compassionate care to their communities.”
