Leading White Collar and Cybersecurity Defense Attorney Mark E. Robinson Joins Mintz Levin

Former Federal Prosecutor to Bolster Firm’s White Collar, Regulatory Enforcement and Cybersecurity Defense Practices

BOSTON--()--Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. is expanding its White Collar Defense practice with the addition of Mark E. Robinson, a nationally recognized expert in government investigations and enforcement, cybersecurity defense and a former deputy chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Bringing more than 30 years of experience in government and law, Mr. Robinson joins as a Member of the firm and will serve as co-chair of Mintz Levin’s White Collar Defense practice. He will be based in the Boston office.

Mr. Robinson represents public and private sector clients in connection with internal investigations, regulatory enforcement actions, commercial litigation and large scale data breaches. He has been called upon by CEOs, boards of directors, audit committees and senior executives in industries as varied as energy, automotive, media, healthcare and financial services. Areas of expertise include securities and procurement fraud, data breaches and cyber incidents, bid rigging, pharmaceutical pricing practices, accounting misconduct, false claims, and commercial bribery including FCPA, RICO, export control, espionage and whistleblower claims.

A veteran trial lawyer, prosecutor, legal advisor, advocate and litigator, Mr. Robinson has held a wide range of positions in state and federal government, and the legal industry, over the last three decades. Beyond his roles at the DOJ, Mr. Robinson served as Chief of Staff to former Massachusetts Governor William F. Weld, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Port Authority, and Secretary of Administration and Finance for the Commonwealth. In 1992, he was nominated by the President of the United States to be the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts. Most recently, he served as outside counsel to the transition committee for the incoming Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker and Karyn Polito.

Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Mr. Robinson served as a Partner at Bingham McCutchen LLP, which recently merged with Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP.

Mr. Robinson has been involved in many charitable, nonprofit and pro bono endeavors, including service on advisory boards of the Boston Chapter of the American Red Cross, the New England Chapter of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, the Children’s Hospital of Boston, the United Way of Massachusetts Bay, the Massachusetts Institution for a New Commonwealth (MassINC), New England Baptist Hospital and the national advocacy group Stop Handgun Violence.

Mr. Robinson’s work has been recognized by publications including Chambers USA, where he is ranked Band One for White Collar Defense, Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, which have all consecutively included him in their national rankings of white collar defense attorneys.

Mr. Robinson holds a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and served as Editor of the Boston University Law Review. He graduated magna cum laude from Duke University.
