DVA Explainer Video

2015 International CES

INDIANAPOLIS--()--Digital Video Archive L.L.C. will unveil the DVA, the successor to DVD at the 2015 International CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 6-9, 2015. To schedule a private meeting, please contact Robert Hanley at robert@Digitalvideoarchive.com. The DVA and related technology is available immediately and is already being utilized by customers.

The film, DVD and physical media era is dying and generations of Americans and American businesses and organizations are at risk of losing over one billion hours of film, video & digital content. This problem is compounded and grows exponentially every day as people all over the world create new content with their smartphones and other devices. The state of the consumer and commercial video content creation, transfer, storage and delivery industry is murky at best.

As the industry transitions from the old (physical media) to the new (cloud-based solutions) a huge opportunity has opened up. “It our vision that Digital Video Archive and the DVA will become the successor to DVD, and that cloud-based DVAs will be accessed from DigitalVideoArchive.com by consumers and commercial clients for private and public viewing, editing, sharing, storage, and retrieval via computer, tablet, smartphone, smart TV and future delivery devices,” says Robert Hanley, the CEO and Founder of Digital Video Archive.

“Let me ask you a question…when was the last time you ran out to rent a movie on DVD? Can you even remember? You can’t play a DVD on an iPad or smartphone. Streaming media is simply the way entertainment video is watched these days, and the truth is that the content recording and playback industry has always followed Hollywood’s lead in replacing the media of the day,” maintains Hanley, who is the actual inventor of the DVA. “We are at a watershed moment in history. Like every industry video and DVD is being disrupted by new technology. The problem was that until now there hasn’t been one universal, easy-to-use file-based video format for the viewing, editing, private sharing, storage and delivery.”

To thicken the plot, consumers frequently make the poor choice with today’s devices (iPad, laptop, smartphones, etc.) of leaving their precious content on the device where it was created; thus the acquisition device has become a storage device. This presents a huge problem for the average consumer. All this content is waiting to go somewhere and that, of course, is where www.DigitalVideoArchive.com enters the picture.

A DVA takes the best of DVD (menus, titles, etc.) and transfers that concept to a customized archival MP4 file. A DVA (Digital Video Archive) is a specially designed and engineered MP4 file format containing unique customizable metadata - title information, chapter markers, thumbnail images and more which enables playback on a DVA player (computer, smartphone, tablet, and smart TV- with internet access). DVAs are easily viewed, modified, edited, shared, and archivally stored in the cloud at DigitalVideoArchive.com.

Private sharing is one of the hottest features of the DVA. A DVA can be shared with one person, several family members or your entire circle of friends and family. DVAs also have commercial applications and can be created by individuals, companies, organizations, churches, etc. Who is our customer? Anyone and everyone who owns, uses, or creates video content. This includes producers, directors, and production companies big and small. A two hour DVA is approximately 750 MB.

Users or “Archivers” as Digital Video Archive calls them can upload, view, label, sort, edit, preserve, share, and download their DVAs. It’s simply amazing when a family has their entire 50 hour library of family memories on DVA and Digital Video Archive – or even a company with its content online. Both the Mom and Dad and CEO have their entire video history at their fingertips everywhere they go. There’s never, ever been anything like this in the history of motion pictures, video and content distribution. DVAs require a monthly Digital Video Archive subscription which is $19.95 per month.

In addition to the DVA, Digital Video Archive will be introducing two related products at CES: their DVA Deluxe Authoring System and DVA Deluxe Authoring Software, which is sold on a monthly subscription.

The DVA Deluxe Authoring System is a professional PC designed and built to facilitate the use of the DVA Deluxe Authoring Software. DVAs can be created from live captured video or from files that have been previously captured and edited and even from DVDs. DVA Deluxe can capture and create up to two DVA Files simultaneously. In addition, the software adds metadata to the DVA files that contains specific details regarding the project information, customer information, video chapters with thumbnails and content provider information.

DVA Deluxe is a software application designed to allow anyone to create fully authored DVA's using an automated workflow. DVA's can be created from live captured video or from files that have been previously captured and edited. The software adds metadata to the DVA files that contains specific details regarding the project information, customer information, video chapters, chapter markers, thumbnail images, and AR and CP information. The DVA Software is sold on a monthly subscription model. Current prices are $79.95 per month for a two-seat license and $139.95 per month for a five seat license.

Digital Video Archive is interested in finding Content Providers and Authorized Representatives. Content Providers are schools, churches, organizations, governments, production companies, industry, and of course any person or group that creates video. The list goes on and on. This requires purchase of DVA Deluxe Authoring hardware and software. A DVA Deluxe unit sells for $1795.00 retail. Uploading personal content from a personal account does not require any additional hardware or software.

Digital Video Archive’s booth is at the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall 2 – Booth number: 26437. LVCC, South Hall 2 - 26437.
