ID.me Names Lee Aber Vice President of Security and Risk Management

MCLEAN, Va.--()--Digital identity verification network ID.me today announced that Lee Aber has joined the company as Vice President of Security and Risk Management.

Aber brings nearly 20 years of experience developing and managing security, risk management, and privacy programs to ID.me. In his new position, Aber will provide leadership for every aspect of ID.me’s security initiative including overseeing compliance, security, risk and vulnerability management, and incident response capability.

Before joining ID.me, Aber previously served as Director of Information Security at Opower, a leader in customer engagement and energy management software, helping Utilities reduce energy consumption by changing consumer behavior. At Opower he oversaw and managed security and data privacy and was responsible for ensuring the protection of customer data and intellectual property in the highly regulated global Utility market. Aber was instrumental in establishing and delivering on the company’s smart grid data security capabilities as a key market differentiator.

Prior to Opower, Aber was a Technical Director at ICF International where he managed information assurance initiatives for federal agencies such as the Department of State, Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission. Aber has also worked at FishNet Security, Department of Defense, Interliant, Motorola and Winternals Software. Aber serves on the National Board of Information Security Examiners (NBISE) and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, Aber is active in the global information privacy community and has recently joined the Education Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
