HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Industrial service providers Plant Maintenance Services and Thorpe Specialty Services announced today that the recently merged companies and associated subsidiaries will be marketed under the brand “Thorpe Plant Maintenance & Engineering” (http://thorpeplantmaintenanceandengineering.com/).
The updated name leverages Thorpe’s strong brand awareness in the market, while also clarifying the combined company’s core maintenance business model. This brand umbrella will be leveraged to market all services and products the company offers. In addition, the “open shop” company is Thorpe Plant Services, Inc., while the union company remains J T Thorpe Company.
The Houston-based industrial services company has experienced unprecedented growth in 2014 with the merger in May and the recent acquisition of Alberta, Canada-based Clayburn Refractories, which brought Thorpe its first permanent international locations.
The recent M&A activities are building an expanded service offering to provide customers with a full range of services, including engineering, manufacturing and installation of fiberglass piping, tanks, and various other corrosion products. The company’s growth also strengthens the service and product offerings with engineered and designed refractory and acid resistant linings and manufactured fiber module systems and installation services. Together, Thorpe is able to provide complete turnkey approach for customers.
“This has been an exciting year for Thorpe,” said Tom Burns, CEO, Thorpe Specialty Services Corporation. “With the merger of Thorpe Specialty Services and Plant Maintenance Services, coupled with the Clayburn Refractories and other recent acquisitions, we knew that we needed to create a new brand and look to represent the combined talent, products and services that make us an industry leader. Our brand, Thorpe Plant Maintenance & Engineering, embodies our strong heritage and industry reputations, while unifying the organization for an even brighter future.”
Thorpe operates out of 12 branches located in five states (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama and Iowa), with five additional branches serving its Western Canada customers under Clayburn Refractories, Ltd.
Burns stated the company’s strategy will continue to focus on organic growth by leveraging their expanded services and geography with current customers, while seeking out additional acquisition opportunities to support the service needs of the industrial market and growing branch footprint.
