AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nitero, the global leader in high performance and low power 60GHz solutions, today announced that its NT4600 module has been named 2015 International CES Innovation Awards Honoree in the Embedded Technology category. The first product from Nitero’s 60G® family of 60GHz Wi-Fi solutions, the NT4600 is the industry’s only end-to-end IEEE 802.11ad™ chipset that meets the power, performance and form-factor requirements for the mobile platform. It received high marks for its ability to deliver the convergence of PC, gaming and media capabilities onto a single mobile device.
“Next-generation tablets and smartphones are gearing up to deliver another leap in functionality that we haven’t experienced since the introduction of the touch-screen,” said Pat Kelly, CEO, Nitero. “The mobile device is already the preferred computing platform for consumers around the world, which is why Nitero designed NT4600 for mobile from the ground up. We didn’t take any shortcuts in delivering a multi-gigabit, low-latency solution that will enable developers to bring groundbreaking features to smartphones and tablets. We’re honored that Nitero’s first 60G solution has been recognized by the CES Innovation Awards.”
Designed in Samsung’s advanced 28nm RF process, the NT4600 is 10x more power efficient and 10x smaller than 802.11ad solutions built for the PC, bringing cost and form-factor in-line with existing 802.11ac Wi-Fi solutions. It employs advanced beamforming to stream 4K video in non-line-of sight-environments and can perform mass file transfers at up to 4.6Gbps peak data rate. Production shipments are slated for 2015.
Nitero will be demonstrating its 60GHz Wi-Fi solution at International CES 2015. To request a meeting with Nitero, contact CES@nitero.com.
