NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Birchbox, the leading beauty company for men and women, today is launching Canada-wide to mark the sixth country the company has expanded to since launching in the U.S. in September 2010. With data and insights gleaned from the success of the other four international markets Birchbox has penetrated since the acquisition of JolieBox in September 2012 (UK, Spain, France and Belgium), the growing, sustainable global beauty brand is well poised to enter the Canadian market and apply their tried-and-true business model to a new customer base.
The success of Birchbox in Europe has allowed the company to look at expansion into new countries, connecting brands with new consumers and driving demand of products by consumers who’ve not previously had the opportunity to experience them. As the newest members of Birchbox’s 800,000 strong subscriber base, Canadian consumers will now have the opportunity to try, learn about and buy premium beauty products previously unavailable in Canada, while expanding their personal repertoire of beauty essentials. The international growth will allow Canadian beauty brands to expand both nationwide and internationally to enable customers to experience products not previously available in the U.S.
With over 600 products and 50 brands to choose from in the full-size e-commerce shop, Birchbox Canada has something for everyone - including a wide variety of Canadian-made products and international brands that have yet to make their mark in Canada, like Cynthia Rowley Beauty and Harvey Prince. Birchbox’s unique try-learn-buy experience allows subscribers the chance to experience a product before committing to a full-size purchase at Birchbox.ca. For $14.95 a month, each Birchbox contains a personalized selection of five luxury beauty samples for women, with products spanning the categories of hair, makeup, nails, skincare, and body.
“Since our launch in 2010, we’ve had tens of thousands of customer inquiries regarding shipping to Canada,” says Birchbox Co-Founder and Co-CEO Katia Beauchamp. “So we’re thrilled to finally bring Birchbox north of the border.”
Birchbox brings not only a new way to discover beauty, but also creates curated content each month on its blog and online magazine, where subscribers can learn how to make the most out of their personalized assortment of beauty products. Birchbox customers can then buy full-size versions of their favorite products in the Birchbox online shop.
Birchbox boxes in Canada will officially be open for purchase today, with the first Canadian Birchboxes shipping in December. Birchbox subscriptions for women cost $14.95 per month or $159.40 per year including shipping and taxes.
